 HE CHOOSES YOU

By Chidimma Placid Nwaka

"Before you were born, I knew you." — Book of Jeremiah 1:5

Every man carries a quiet voice within that sometimes whispers that he was left out in creation when it comes to favor and opportunity. Some believe that nature is partial in the way it treats the sons and daughters of the earth, while others feel that life simply has its favorites.

But these thoughts are often fallacies.

God, the Creator of the universe, has no favorites. Even those who were considered close to Him in the scriptures were corrected when they went astray. His love and justice remain constant.

Being chosen by God is more than the phrase “highly favored.” When God chooses you, it does not necessarily mean life becomes effortless or that struggles disappear. Rather, it means His purpose and grace begin to shape your journey, even in the midst of challenges.

When people say God is partial, I often smile, because the greatest evidence of His love is that He gave His Son for humanity. This sacrifice shows that God values every soul and desires that all people find life through Him.

Often, sin is what makes man feel distant from God. As it is often said, sin makes man hide from God, not because God stops caring, but because guilt convinces the heart that it has been abandoned.

Yet even in our lowest moments, God still chooses us.

He chose David despite his weaknesses.

He chose Daniel even in exile.

Time and again, God has shown that He calls imperfect people to fulfill His purpose.

And so, He chooses you too.

When you feel lost, He is there.

When you run away, He still reaches out.

When you fall, His grace waits patiently for your return.

Sometimes life feels slow, difficult, and uncertain. But in the midst of those struggles, there are quiet moments of beauty; moments that remind us that we are not forgotten.

Those moments should comfort us with the truth that God chooses every person He created. His grace is available to all, and every soul, whether strong or broken, has the opportunity to return to Him.

When life feels heavy, remember this:

Someone who chooses you every day is waiting for you to come back.

LOVE TALES WITH CHIDIMMA WRITES ✍️

IF WE EVER GET MARRIED… A decade and six years ago, I had this imaginary person I loved so deeply. Someone I had found, yet never seen a solace after long, sometimes dramatic days. Someone to chitchat with in the quiet corners of my mind. I described him like characters in movies; Hollywood mostly. If he was the handsome hero, then he became my imaginary portrait. As time passed, I would wrap myself up in a double sofa, close my eyes, and imagine he was right there beside me. Sometimes I wondered if I was abnormal… or maybe every girl had this feeling and just never spoke about it. I did not know, or perhaps, I did not know how to know. Funny, “know how to know.” I was so attached to him that when my teenage hormones began to bloom, reality tapped me on the shoulder. I realized I needed to be realistic. He wasn’t real. So I took it upon myself to look for him. How toxic. In my dreams, he was more Asian. In my mind, he was the loveliest doctor– a surgeon. In reality, I wavered for a coo...

MOVIE CRITIC: THE HERD

MOVIE CRITIC: THE HERD Just Like Every Other One, It Reminds Us of the Poison People believe history shapes our lifestyle, and while the stories get interesting, the movies created from them make the connections more visible. The Herd is a historical movie; not too old, just about six years from the real events that inspired its visuals. It is a film that does not intend to hurt any religion or portray any tribe in Nigeria negatively. Effiong Daniel, an inspiring actor, delivered a project that could easily be misunderstood as controversial, especially because it was released during a chaotic and sensitive period in the country. Many critics from Northern Nigeria claimed the movie undermines the region, but the truth is that it delivers factual information in visual form. Bandit attacks, killings, the selling of human body parts, and other dark realities were portrayed, not to demonize anyone, but to reflect what victims actually go through. Just like To Kill a Monkey, The Herd uses st...
